Pirelli’s 10,000th P Zero tyre for the Ferrari XX Programs

Pirelli’s relationship with Ferrari goes well beyond the car manufacturer’s birth. In fact, it was back in the 1920s and 1930s when Pirelli worked with Alfa Romeo Racing and produced the Stella Bianca tyres. These tyres became the first to be used in their joint venture in a number of races and were actually branded ‘Scuderia Ferrari’.

Since then, the Italian luxury car maker has relied on Pirelli for all their OE fitment tyres including the Torzero, which was made especially for the Ferrari 488 GTB and the P Zero Corsa for La Ferrari plus many more.

Ferrari Pit Stop

With track days from Bahrain to Mugello, all these race days are under the ‘Maranello Cavallino’ and are exclusive to Pirelli tyres, even the safety cars. The XX programme is derived from the road and built for the track. These cars hold the same performance characteristics as their road counterparts with the sole purpose of track use.

After 8 years, the 10,000th P Zero tyre rolled off the production line after the first XX programme was marked with the P Lugo logo. This tyre was exhibited at a recent Ferrari Racing day on the Nurburgring, which Pirelli has accompanied since 2011.

Pirelli and Ferrari

Ferrari’s line-up to mark this special occasion included the FXX, FXX EVO, 599XX, 599 XX EVO, FXX K and the FXX K EVO and the same technical scrutineering that goes into a Formula 1 racing applies for these hyper breed of super cars.

The P Zero has long stood the test of time when it comes to ultra-high-performance driving. With decades of racing results - Pirelli knows motorsport. The tyre compounds and tread designs altar from front to rear and left to right giving the driver complete control through cornering in any direction.

When it comes to Pirelli P Zero tyres - Kogarah Tyrepower is Sydney’s number 1 dealer. The P Zero is the only choice for performance across a number of top end vehicles, including SUV’s and passenger cars.

This month we’ll take a look at the P Zero Corsa Asimmetrico 2. With the Corsa System on board, this is the most race bred tyre in the P Zero range. It has been designed and developed by Pirelli with supercar manufacturers for intended use on the road and the track.

The P Zero Corsa Asimmetrico 2 has a redesigned structure for optimal cornering and handling under intense speeds. The directional tread pattern on the front incorporates the longitudinal grooves, which help aid in dispersing water and prevents aquaplaning.

Asymmetrical tread design on the rear of your vehicle improves braking distances thanks to an ample contact patch with the road surface and it increases rigidity.
